Description
Riverstone is a courtyard household dwelling located on a semi-rural property in Launceston’s periphery. The design’s refined type and pure palette complement and spotlight the positioning’s hanging pure panorama.
Anchored at every extremity by subdued white brickwork, the house folds to create a protected east-facing courtyard, giving a way of enclosure for the out of doors areas whereas forming a barrier in opposition to the area’s prevailing westerlies. The brickwork is contrasted by a tough sawn timber display screen spanning the house’s western façade.
This eucalypt veil blurs Riverstone’s scale from a distance, disguises lots of the dwelling’s parts, and acts as a purposeful function used to regulate airflow, shade, and perspective.
From design to building, the challenge’s idea targeted on creating a permanent construction that will settle instantly into the rhythm of the panorama and replicate the land administration work that Riverstone’s homeowners proceed to undertake on the property.
